Either way, you know what Sophie and the Flakes are all about and now it’s your chance to use your knowledge to go way, way behind the scenes and put yourself in author Nancy Rue’s shoes!

Imagine that you are Nancy Rue and are trying to come up with a storyline for Sophie’s World, book 13. What would the title be? How about the setting? What would you like to see happen? Would you pick an event from an existing book or come up with something totally new?

Book Ideas

Idea #1

Just before Jill is almost completely friendless (other than Jesus), she runs into a girl at school who's name is Rose. Rose is a Christian and Jill and Rose become fast friends and from a group they call "The Crazy for Christ Club". Jill and Rose hang out all the time and Brandie sees this and becomes jealous of Rose replacing her place as Jill's best friend. Brandie starts blackmailing Rose and leaving her mean notes and gossping about her and telling rumors about poor Rose. Rose starts acting strange and Jill even caught her crying in the custodian closet and this begins to worry Jill. Jill decides to be a secret detective and figure out who is doing all these mystery blackmails and rumors. Could it be one of the mean popular girls? Could it be one of Rose's old friends? Could it be Brandie? Jill is determined to find out.

Idea #2

The Corn Flakes go to summer camp! But Fiona is stuck in the Corn Pops cabin (I have no idea how they got into church camp. Well,actually, they came in to hurt the Corn Flakes.) Anyways, Kitty has to go home because of her leukemia, Maggie is acting very secretive towards Sophie, Darbie is suddenly talking like an annoying girl and won't shut up and it's obvious that she's trying to annoy everyone and Willoughby gets poison ivy and goes home! Sophie feels lonely without Dr. P even though he's a phone call away. Sophie figures out what's wrong with Maggie and Darbie: Maggie bursts that she's in love with the lifeguard and can't believe it cause she won't even let a boy touch her and Darbie wants to purposely have the Corn Flakes make her leave the cabin so that she can join a girl named Colleen in another cabin! They find out it's because Colleen's her close cousin that she hadn't seen in 5 years! Worst comes to worst when Sophie figures out that Fiona asked to stay with the Corn Pops and that she became a Corn pop and that she wanted to be one and that she doesn't want to be Sophie's best friend anymore and that she thought Sophie was a weirdo from the very beginning. Sophie's heart breaks until she realizes what a terrible BFF Fiona's been. But it's still hard to pull away, so Sophie makes a Dr. P phone call and has to learn how to accept change.

– Emily, age 12

Idea #3

Jennifer is a lonely girl who has no friends. Her parents are divorced and her younger sister had just recently died of cancer. Then, as things start getting worse she starts to wonder if God truly is there. Will Jennifer give up being a christain?

– Christina, age 10

Idea #4

A boy named Jesse comes along at Jill's school, and Jill falls for him big time. The big talent show was coming up and her school as well, and Jill decides to attempt a song and everyone tells her she rocks at it! But Brandie and her group obssess over Jesse the first second he came to their school! Brandie tries out for the same song as Jill, but only Brandie or Jill can get submitted into the talent show. Does Jill make it? Will Brandie never talk to her again? Will Jesse ever like Jill??

nicole loves sharks and hopes to one day become a marine biologist. Living in New Orleans,she gets the opportunity to study sharks up close as she goes on an ocean expedition with her father. She learns to trust in God as she faces a dangerous situation. Will she safely escape? Read to find out!

believe it or not sophie is getting sick of fiona! sophie would rather kick her out of the flakes but she has to stick to the code. then when fiona gets in trouble at school sophie would be only to glad to turn against her.

I like Cassie's idea. Fiona deserts them for the Corn Pops and then Cassie joins them and Sophie becomes her best friend and Fiona reveals her true self by being rotten. Total twist!

Idea #9

Sophie, Maggie, Kitty, Fiona, Darbie, Willoughby and the girls are doing great... until Brianna moves there from Michigan. Brianna's a nice girl, and she acts so much like Kitty. She has long, curly blond hair, always wears soft sweatsuits and loves to bake. Like Kitty she whines, cries and complains constantly. She's very short. She gets good grades and unlike Kitty knows big words--that's more like Fiona. But Kitty loves Brianna and desserts the CFs to start her own group with Brianna. Fiona and Maggie agree-for once--that Kitty should stay away if she goes away for a second and Darbie and Willoughby think that Kitty should do what she wants to do. Everybody has their own opinion and Sophie is the only one who REALLY wants Kitty back.

Mackenzie, Blue, Janna, and Becky start a band! Mackenzie plays the guitar, Blue plays the drums, Becky plays the keyboard, and Janna sings! Well, actually, they all trade off on singing,but who cares! They enter a music video contest, and they win 1st place, thanks to Willie Faye's Internet design skills! That means they get a recording contract with Trinity, one of the hottest Contemporary Christian Music labels in the Northeast, plus, they get to perform at their church and all of the churches in Maryland! The girls are thrilled, but when they start arguing about everything, from their stage outfits to the genre of music they play, things get a little sticky.
