Faithgirlz! are definitely NOT Pops!
Sophie and her friends at Great Marsh Middle School are known as the "Corn Flakes." They're busy growing up, exploring their world, learning how to let their faith sparkle, and building friendships.
The "Flakes" have little in common with the "cool" girls, the "Corn Pops"—four girls caught up in fashion, make-up, and boys, and trying so hard to be "popular." Take a peek and get to know each of these girls inside and out!
Take it Farther
Use these questions as you think about the books in the Sophie series. As you get to know the characters better on this site, you can begin to think about what these questions mean in your own life too!
- Which character are you more like? (Think about how there may be a little of you in each of them!)
- Are there "Corn Pops" in your school?
- How can you break down the walls between both groups in your everyday interactions?
- Does God create us as either "Pops" or "Flakes"? Or are these labels and stereotypes we put on ourselves?
- What do you like best about the "Flakes"? What about the "Pops"?
- Sophie's books mainly focus on cliques in school. But think about your youth group, church, or neighborhood friends. Are you too cool or do you make an effort to include others?
