Fall is a beautiful time of year to enjoy God’s creation as a family. Here are some ideas for making the most of the season together.

Apples, apples, apples—If you live near an apple orchard, take your family on a pick-your-own adventure. Or simply grab a bushel of fresh apples from the local grocery store or farm market and brainstorm all the ways you can enjoy this versatile fruit. Apple pie, apple crisp, apple muffins, apple sauce… and don’t forget good old caramel apples! Here are some fun recipes from around the web:

Apple Crisp Stuffed Baked Apples

Salted Caramel Apple Cider Floats

Pumpkin Pie Dip with Apple Slices

Nature crafts—Spend an afternoon hiking through a park or touring a local pumpkin patch, admiring and collecting colorful leaves, gourds and pine cones. When you return home, assemble decorations for your porch or mantle using a variety of God-given supplies. Try one of these fun fall crafts:

Autumn Leaf Candle Holder

Leaf-Printed Linens

Pine Cone Zinnias

Harvest party—The tween years can be difficult for Christian kids as they learn to stand strong for Jesus among their peers. Provide an opportunity for like-minded tweens to connect by hosting a harvest party for your daughter’s youth group or Sunday school class! Games and snacks are a must. We recommend a caramel apple nacho bar! Consider making your party a family affair by inviting parents and siblings, too.

However you spend your family time in fall, be sure to pause and thank God for His creativity and blessings that abound this time of year. He is in the sun and the rain and the majestic rainbow of forest leaves. Every pumpkin was crafted by His hand!

“Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad; let the sea resound, and all that is in it. Let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them; let all the trees of the forest sing for joy.” (Psalm 96:11-12)
