Fall Break is just around the corner. How are you going to spend the time with your tween? Here are a few ideas to make the most of the brief break from the routine of school!
Go on a mom-daughter trip— Fall break is the perfect time to get away and have a heart-to-heart about your daughter’s changing emotions, hormones, social climate and much more. Schedule a special overnight trip just for the two of you to spend quality time together talking, shopping, visiting coffee houses or book stores—whatever your daughter enjoys. Consider using a helpful curriculum to add meaning to your getaway, such as Passport2Purity or one of our many Faithgirlz devotionals.
Schedule a special class or workshop— Use the time off from school to invest in your tween’s personal development. Sign her up for a babysitter training clinic, a science workshop, or a painting class. Many local kids’ clubs, libraries or YMCAs offer special programs during school breaks.
Bring summer back— For many families, swimming weather is long gone by fall break. Sneak away to a waterpark resort and let the kids splash and dive to their heart’s content. Wrap up the day with a family movie and pizza in your resort room.
Host a harvest party— Is your daughter a party planner? Invite her to help you plan a fall festival or “trunk or treat” event for all the kids in the neighborhood. Use this event as an outreach opportunity to share your faith through Jesus-themed candy or goody bags, like these drawstring bags from Oriental Trading.
Camp out— In the living room, that is! When temperatures drop, it’s the perfect time to snuggle up in a sleeping bag in front of the fireplace, snacking on popcorn, hot cocoa, and candy corn. Play board games or a few rounds of “name that tune” on Spotify. What you do doesn’t matter as much as who you’re doing it with. Enjoy this special family time together!
